What’s your most important part of your running kit? For me it has to be my underwear, especially a sports bra! I’ve had many a race nearly ruined by excruciating chafing…..but no more. I’ve discovered Runderwear! No more chafe, ever!
Runderwear is a crop top not a specialised sports bra, but if like me you aren’t that well endowed up top anymore (thank you running!) then for a B cup and under I personally think there is enough support in the crop top, if not I have heard of other ladies wearing the crop top under their sports bra. The problem with traditional sports bras is, and I’ve tried the full range of them, that they have clasps/straps/hooks whatever, you name it, it rubs! And when it rubs it hurts. I still have scars on my back and under my breasts to prove it, horrible stuff! In the past I couldn’t run more than half a marathon without the dreaded chafe coming into play which mean taping up prior to going out for a semi-long run which is just so annoying. But with Runderwear this is no longer an issue. I have run a variety of events in my Runderwear crop top to really test out the theory, 110km in Cappadocia, Turkey where I was on my feet for over 17 hours carrying a small rucksack with absolutely no issues. Fast track to the Sahara desert, running the Marathon Des Sables, 250km through the hottest of hot temperatures, through sandstorms, tipping water over myself and not washing for the entire week all whilst carrying a rucksack weighing 8kg on my back – NO CHAFE!!! That has to be the ultimate test and Runderwear passed with flying colours. In general I wear the crop top all the time for my training, but the briefs I only wear under tights that don’t have a built in brief, over summer most of my shorts & skorts have this built in so there is no need for a double up but definitely over winter in long tights it’s a must have addition to my running wardrobe. The pink Runderwear range has the low rise hipster brief and whilst they don’t provide as much coverage as the traditional brief they are very comfortable and cover all areas! If you prefer less coverage there is a string option available as well. And boys don’t be discouraged there’s a men’s range too! Which I have on good authority from husband, Dion, that it certainly does the job!
So why does it work? Well it’s made with 360 degree seamless technology with fine flat lock edging out of a technical fabric that wicks sweat away from the body quickly to keep you dry and comfortable. The fabric is durable so it stays in its original shape wash after wash, and it fits as it should without riding up and stays in place during any workout.
It’s no wonder then that my friend, Marina Ranger and I have hatched a plan to run the length of The Netherlands, 500km in 5 days, wearing nothing more than our Runderwear. There will certainly be no issues with chafing! **Runderwear has been kindly donated by Runderwear but all opinions are my own – I wouldn’t be planning to run 500km in it if it didn’t work!**
