The thing I really love about Lululemon kit is not only does it look good, but it is super functional.
I purchased the RUN:Swiftly Tech long sleeve top as a top to keep me warm in the evenings whilst I was out running the multi stage Kalahari Augrabies Extreme Marathon. With kit weight being paramount I was keen to try out this top as it weighs in at only 111g, it has nice long sleeves finishing with thumbholes to help keep the sleeves down and the wrists warm and it has a good waist length so wouldn’t be riding up on me. It’s technical too, made with Silverescent technology which is supposed to inhibit the growth of odour-causing bacteria on the garment, which after a week in the desert (running 250km) without a shower was certainly putting this to the optimum test. I can safely say that it does work, I wasn’t running in the top but I was wearing it each evening from about 5pm through until 7am in the morning after a full day of running in up to 48 degree heat without having had a shower for the full week and at the end of the week I held it up to my nose and had a good sniff, but nothing.
So it works in the heat…..what about the cold? I live in Edinburgh afterall! I feel the cold quite easily so whilst this top kept me warm enough on some brisk Autumn evenings I have now been wearing it over my long sleeve Skin which is keeping me nice and toasty even when it is dipping below zero.
The top fits very well, it is a nice snug fit which is how it is designed to be and it feels very comfortable on. It has very subtle markings on the shirt, constructed with mesh venting strategically placed in high sweat areas to encourage the air flow through there, which actually add a nice design element to the shirt.
It RRP £62 at Lululemon and comes in 10 different colour choices. I’m tempted to get myself a number of these in different colours and just live in them permanently. Although I purchased mine for running, it is so comfortable and looks so good you could wear it casually or for any other sports.
