You know when you can smell your own body odour? Not great but something I have struggled with for so many years I’ve lost count. I’ve tried every deodorant out there promising to leave no white marks, keep you fresh for 24 hours, all natural, aluminum free……yep you’ve heard all the claims too right?
Recently I stumbled across a brand I hadn’t heard of before, Nuud. A Dutch company (ships worldwide) that promises fresh armpits, with no aluminum, parabens, petrochemicals or any other vague chemicals. They don’t do propellants or canisters but deliver their product in the tiniest, cutest little pink bioplastic tube that literally fits in the palm of your hand. So it’s cruelty free, 100% vegan and comes in a bioplastic sugarcane tube that comes in a biodegradable cardboard box so it’s also great for our environment.
That all sounds great so I was certainly intrigued. They also promise that the product is effective for 3-7 days even when exercising regularly, excessive sweating and showering. I had to give it a go.
After reading the instructions I made sure I followed them to the letter to make sure I was giving Nuud the best opportunity but I was skeptical. I sweat, a lot! I also shower 2-3 times a day and I am living in a very hot climate so not only sweating when exercising but just in general.
I started with applying the pea size blob every 3 days for the first 2 weeks and I was genuinely amazed that I didn’t smell. But I thought maybe it was in my head, you know when you want something to work so you believe it does but it’s not so I didn’t even fully believe myself. I kept testing, tried going for 4 days before another application but then I could smell my odour again, so I found my sweet spot at 3 days. It’s totally different to deodorant as there is no smell because this is an anti-odorant so if you like the potpourri smells of normal deodorants then this probably isn’t for you.
I’ve now been using Nuud for over a year and the 15ml tube lasts for 4+ months! I no longer get white marks on my clothing, I feel fresher and less conscious about my body odour as I don’t have that anymore, and I feel like I’m doing a small bit more for the environment with the product I am using. The other bonus is, when we actually get back to traveling the world, the tube is so small it is perfect for minimizing the amount you travel with.
