So I should have been waking up at 5am, carbing up with some porridge and running 32 miles around Anglesey as part of the Coastal Trail Series, instead awoke in my own bed at 9am, and headed up to Axons butcher of Didsbury to get bacon, sausages, eggs & black pudding to drown our disappointment … Continue reading Not quite the run I had planned Day 19 Janathon
Marathon effort, no mileage Day 18 Janathon
Today was to be the final taper before our first ultra, but alas it was not meant to be! We pushed on from Manchester to Holyhead, after hearing the statement at 10am that the event was going ahead. It was a tough old trip, dangerous driving which completely sapped the energy, we would have been … Continue reading Marathon effort, no mileage Day 18 Janathon
Intelligent Recovery Day 17 Janathon
Frustrating to be on a taper, and here's hoping it is for a reason and that the Coastal Endurance Ultra in Anglesey on Saturday doesn't get cancelled with all this severe weather, otherwise all the taper and carb loading is just going to equal extra pounds!!!Hence today was an intelligent recovery day with a half … Continue reading Intelligent Recovery Day 17 Janathon
Taper time Day 16 Janathon
Time to taper! A perfect running day, crisp, or should I say bloody cold, and sunny, no wind....just perfect! Late start at work so headed out at 9.30 for a gentle (small steps, can't afford an injury) 4.5 mile run out through Fog Lane Park. And that's all for the day, I hate tapering!
Snowfit Day 15 Janathon
Of all the days to pick.....I managed to convince 3 of my work colleagues to try out Bioticfit on the first day that Didsbury actually got some snow! Fair play to them they not only turned up, with 3 other crazy bioticfitters, but aced it! Was super proud that they got through the full hour … Continue reading Snowfit Day 15 Janathon
Sleet run Day 14 Janathon
With snowing falling everywhere in the UK it seems except Manchester, I headed out for my morning run commute to work. It was COLD! Sleet coming down, making it a rather cold & wet start to the day.Finished off the day with my cycle back home, so 7 miles each way completed. Trying not to … Continue reading Sleet run Day 14 Janathon
As little as possible – Day 13 Janathon
After my monstrous cycle yesterday, my body determined that today needed to be a rest day. Being Janathon I couldn't completely take the day off of course, so opted for free weights. 3 reps of 5 different types of weights did the job nicely & spent the rest of the day resting my tired & … Continue reading As little as possible – Day 13 Janathon
Shattered by Saddleworth Day 12 Janathon
Here I was thinking that I would get a lie in this morning & take what I would term as a day off and maybe just knock out 3 mile run later in the day......but no, hubby had other ideas......Manchester Wheelers had a ride planned today, so we headed off at 8.45 to meet them … Continue reading Shattered by Saddleworth Day 12 Janathon
Just miles on the clock Day 11 Janathon
Woke up pretty tired so grabbed the bike to ride to work instead of a run, but made sure it was a run home, 7 miles each way. It's days like these, the hard tired yards that count, pushing the body through tiredness, I just kept imagining Anglesey Ultra next weekend and how much more … Continue reading Just miles on the clock Day 11 Janathon
Ass Kicked Day 10 Janathon
Thank goodness my hubby suggested putting on my jacket for the morning run commute to work, I think I have been deceived by our recent mild weather and looking outside at 6.30am, it looked aok, but heading out it was absolutely freezing! A great run though, I was warm enough in my gear for the … Continue reading Ass Kicked Day 10 Janathon
